We don't just tell you how fine our stones are, we show you. Objectively.

Several years ago, we brought the Gran Colorimeter into our business, for the purpose of providing an objective means of grading diamonds by color. The colorimeter has been an outstanding resource, particularly accurate for round goods. Your response has been tremendous, and color grading technology has become indispensable. We offer evaluations using the Gran Colorimeter (click on image right to enlarge label) for grading color.

Manufactured in Israel by Gran Computer Industries Ltd., the Gran diamond colorimeter uses full spectrum analysis to color grade loose diamonds from 0.25 to 10 carats. Our Gran DC2000fs colorimeter is so precise we can now break down the color grade of a diamond into many levels. As we all know, any one color grade has a range. The Gran Colorimeter can show a split color, such as ‘G/H,’ a good ‘H,’ middle ‘H’ and low ‘H.’ On the GIA grading scale, the Gran Diamond Colorimeters measure from D through fancy intense with an accuracy of 1/2 of a color grade. It also indicates the tints and hues of a diamond. Although typically unaffected by fluorescence or phosphorescence, the colorimeter features a built in 365 nm UV light source for fluorescence testing.

That process of objective grading was enhanced by our introduction of the Megascope — a remarkable tool that analyzes the make of a diamond. Here's how it works. A highly sophisticated imaging system captures the stone in all its aspects, as small as .45ct. The table percentage, the depth percentage, girdle width, crown and pavilion angles are analyzed to G.I.A. specs.

The digital readout is printed to a label (click on image above right to enlarge) that we attach to the diamond paper. Most important, a cut grade — ranging from “ideal” to “excellent” to “very good” — forms the headline of this label.

In addition, this Megascope technology can be used to "fingerprint” a diamond. Not only does the Megascope certify the proportions of the stone, it identifies the individual stone for all time. A diamond is forever and, now, so is its identity.

These are state-of-the-art scientific measurements that are not vulnerable to hype or high pressure. Any stone you purchase from us is precisely what we tell you it is. More important, what you tell your customer it is.

And we provide a Diamond Evaluation Certificate that will accompany the stone for your customer. NOTE: Each DEC for Round Brilliant Cut diamonds includes the Cutting Parameters, to help you and your customer understand what a finely made diamond is.

Please visit our Descriptions page, to review the Diamond Evaluation Certificate. Remember, for your calls, for Brilliant Round Cuts, you and your customer can specify either GIA or AGS standards.

We are confident that these refinements in the offering of fine stones enable a more direct, more objective sales process. If you have additional questions, we'd love to hear from you by phone or Email.
